Panasonic SD 2501WXC Breadmaker

This model is actually exactly the same product as the SD2500 but with the additional automatic fruit and nut dispenser.

SD 2501WXC Breadmaker Review

The automatic fruit and nut dispenser does increase the price by about £20, but if you are going to make breads that include seed, olives, sun dried tomatoes or any other delicious extra ingredient, then this is money well spent. Though all this is possible with the SD-2500, the SD-2501 will automatically place the extra ingredients in the pan at just the right time without you having to hang around for hours on end waiting for the beep.

Home Made Jam Anyone?

Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that Panasonic have finally come to their senses and added a jam and compote facility to this range. You won't realise how useful this option is until you use it, but once you've tasted home made jam on freshly baked bread, there is no going back.

But the added extras don't stop there. The SD-2501 bread maker also includes the new 100% Gluten Free bread option that enables you to use bread mixes or create your own recipes that contain no gluten at all but actually taste pretty good.

The Rye bread option is still available and the second mixing blade created specifically for this type of baking continues to be included in the package completely free. But now there is also a speciality function included as well so that you can make use of even more exotic flours and continue to create fantastic loaves.

The upgraded design of the new range continues with this model which looks sleeker and more appealing than previous machines. But as the entire product weighs only 6.9kg, it is easy enough to move in and out of cupboards if you are crazy enough to want to hide this beauty away.

Possible Drawback

As with any other breadmaker from Panasonic, the drawback of this model is the time it takes to make the bread. They say the best things come to those who wait and if you buy this model you are going to be waiting nearly 2 hours for a rapid loaf and between 4 and 6 hours for most other products. We think this is time well spent, and with a 13 hour delay start timer it's not as if you have to be waiting around for your bread to cook.

The old adage of the mixing blade staying in the bread also continues to be an issue with the SD-2501WXC. But frankly it takes two seconds to pull the blade free from the bottom of the loaf when it has finished cooking so this really shouldn't be something to influence your decision.

Conclusion

In summary, it is true to say that, like most of the country, we are huge fans of the complete range of bread machines from Panasonic and the SD-2501 WXC lives up to their glowing reputation. The sleek design, new features and the addition of the jam and compote facility means that, though you will pay more for a Panasonic breadmaker, it really is worth every penny.

I can only say well worth the money

Disappointed that this model does not have a separate Cake Make Program, but at least, Wright's Flours give clear successful instructions on how to make with their Cake Mixes.

Otherwise, another superb piece of Panasonic Domestic Machinery.

For me not worth the extra money for fruit and nut.. so I bought SD-2500 model instead... it was cheaper..

I'm a 35 year old bloke living by myself. I was bought this as a gift and thought I'd never use it but I actually do surprisingly. It is easy to clean (takes 5 mins) and easy to use, just put in the ingredients. Great for lazy people like me and produces good quality bread.

This is by far the best bread maker I have ever owned. I used to have an old Kenwood model but much prefer the Panasonic. One thing I noticed, is that the timer isn't available for some of the pre-set programs. However, this isn't such a big deal, especially for the fast bake option - as you're probably not going to need to use the timer if you're in a rush. All in all, easy 5 stars.
