Every effort is made to ensure the above price comparison table is kept up to date. However, we do apologise if you experience an inconsistancy in the data.
The BM260 breadmaker from Kenwood has almost all the same features as the BM366 but comes in a sleek white finish. With 11 preset programs, which include a full range of bread and dough options as well as cake and jam, this is a breadmaker that takes multitasking to an art form.
The Eco button does allow you to choose a more environmentally friendly fuel efficient setting to be kinder to the environment and reduce your overall fuel costs. However, this baking option takes 1 hour 25 minutes to cook a standard loaf and the reduction in electricity usage could be outweighed on an alternative product simply by using a fast bake that takes less than an hour.
But though the 'eco' button may not add as much value as initially thought, the 'Thermafan' technology is definitely working to produce great tasting bread. While it cannot compete with breadmakers in the highest price bracket, the smooth tanned finish you receive from the Kenwood BM260 makes this breadmaker great value for money in its category.
Furthermore, the range of features supplied on this machine make it incredibly easy to use and some of the recipes in the stylish recipe folder are outstanding. Try the marmalade cake for a very impressive tea cake and for even better results use your breadmaker to create the homemade marmalade to use within it.
When you want to expand your baking horizons, Kenwood have provided you with a further five personal settings on this breadmaker which allow you to create your own baking programs. It is a great way to start manipulating the mix to suit your own requirements and a brilliant way to impress your friends.
Use the 15 hour delay timer featured on the BM260 to make sure your bread is ready when you need it and use the 1 hour stay warm function so that your bread can stay warm even if you are running a bit late.
At only 28cm wide (H30, D33) this is a compact machine that will look good on any kitchen surface and slot into almost any spare space you have. It is light enough to put away in the cupboard if you need to, but with the delicious tasting products it creates, it won't be long before it is back out again.
Though the lack of automatic seed dispenser is definitely a negative, the biggest drawback to the Kenwood breadmakers is still the level of noise they create. Though we have to accept that all breadmakers are going to rattle a bit when they are mixing the dough, the BM260 is on the louder side. This is certainly not going to wake you up if you are asleep upstairs and your breadmaker is happily mixing in the kitchen, but if you live in a small apartment or flat, this may start to grind.
In summary, if you are not bothered about a little bit more sound than usual then the Kenwood is a flexible and reliable breadmaker that produces beautifully baked bread, cakes, jams, rolls and pizzas with hardly any effort required.
