BM3 Breadmaker Review
The first thing you'll notice about the AFK BM3 breadmaker, is that the control panel is in German (see above picture). But before you run down to Waterstones to order a German language course, bear in mind that the breadmaker comes with a full English manual which will ensure you have no problems operating it. You may even learn a spot of German, which will prove extremely useful, if by chance, you ever run into a German baker.
High Capacity
The AFK Germany BM3 breadmaker will automatically knead and bake a 1.3kg loaf which is more than enough for the average household. It's sturdy and quietly kneads the strongest of wholemeal flours with no complaints. The BM3 breadmaker features a bread pan which locks into place by clicking downwards, so is secure during the kneading process.
Loaf Shaped Bread!
It seems to be a requirement for many home bakers that the finished loaf is actually 'loaf' shaped. Well the AFK BM3 breadmaker doesn't disappoint, no more square bread, it makes loaf shaped bread all day long.
Additional Features
Some additional features of the AFK BM3 breadmaker include dual kneading hooks to ensure uniform kneading, removable non-stick coated baking pan for easy cleaning, 10 preset baking programs to keep you busy, a heat resistant casing to ensure you don't burn yourself during the baking process, an electronic control panel with LCD display and acoustic signal, variable crust browning control (choose between light, medium and dark crusts), a dough quality setting, a quick bake function for white bread, a programmable timer (up to 13 hours), a warming function, a viewing window to watch your beautiful bread rise, a measuring cup and... a spoon.
Recipe Book
Every AFK BM3 bread machine also comes with a bread making recipe book which includes the following types of bread: white bread, French white bread, nut and raisin bread, Italian white bread, coarse grained brown bread, apple walnut bread, Irish soda bread, maple wholemeal bread, yoghurt wholemeal bread, corn bread, banana nut bread, wholemeal bread, seven grain bread, oat bread, buttermilk bread, coarse white bread, sweet bread, potato bread, spelt (German wheat) bread, 100% wheat bread, pure wheat wholemeal bread, yoghurt bread, fresh cheese bread, and sandwich bread.

We have baked 50/50 white wholemeal bread for a number of months. Rather disappointed with the results, compared to the Russel Hobbs' bread machine we previously owned. The bread tends to dry-out rather quickly and quite frankly it has not got the home made taste that the Russel Hobbs machine had. All in all we are disappointed with the AFK breadmaker.

We have had our AFK breadmaker for four weeks now. As you would expect from a German manufacturer, the build quality is first class.
It's pretty quiet in operation. One slight drawback, the programme button descriptions are in German but with the help of the English instructions you soon become accustomed to them. The bread we have baked so far has been very good, especially the course white bread baked from the recipe list that came with the machine. From reports we read on other makes of machines before we settled on the AFK I think we are on a winner.

BM3 Breadmaker Manual
The BM3 breadmaker manual is straight forward enough, with plenty of illustrations to help you work out that German control panel! In addition, it comes complete with a selection of recipes for you to try out with your new bread machine. There are three versions of the manual available to download, English, French and (yes, you've guessed it) German.
